Emergency Shelter and Homelessness Prevention

What is Emergency Shelter and Homelessness Prevention?

Emergency shelter includes any facility designed to provide temporary shelter to the homeless or a specified population of the homeless. While Moab does not have a general homeless shelter, limited resources are available to assist with short-term, emergency shelter needs and crisis intervention.

Seekhaven’s emergency shelter is available to acute victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Homelessness prevention includes resources available to individuals and families to proactively prevent homelessness and the need for emergency shelter. Relocation services, temporary rental assistance, financial planning and housing advocacy are available to eligible tenants.

Rapid re-housing is also an approach that connects an individual or family to housing as quickly as possible and provides limited assistance to re-establish housing stability.
